KU graduates to receive their diplomas: best wishes for pursuing excellence, dreams and harnessing the power of science

The 33rd graduating class of Klaipeda University (KU) was honored at a solemn graduation ceremony. Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree diplomas were awarded to 591 graduates. A total of 727 graduates graduated from KU this academic year, some of whom received their diplomas in January. 11 PhD students defended their dissertations.

In his congratulatory speech, Prof. Dr. Artūras Razbadauskas, the Rector of KU, expressed his satisfaction that Klaipėda University has produced many talented and determined specialists in various fields. He wished the graduates to continue pursuing excellence and dreams.

“Remember that life’s challenges are opportunities to grow, while setbacks are opportunities to develop determination, to persevere, and to consistently pursue your dreams. You are our future. Make the most of your knowledge, skills, and talents. Don’t forget and don’t obscure your unique potential. Unleash it. Create a more beautiful tomorrow. Harness the power of science responsibly and with love,” Prof. Dr. A. Razbadauskas, the Rector of KU, congratulated the graduates.

The graduates were also congratulated by Arnoldas Šileika, the Chairman of KU Council, and Augustas Andruška, the President of KU Student Union.  

As many as 21 graduates from this class were given the highest marks and awarded degrees with distinction. 11 PhD students defended their dissertations this academic year.

During the event, the title of Honorary Patron of Klaipėda University was awarded to Sigitas Paulauskas, the Founder at VMG Group. The award was given for supporting KU Future Fund, improving the study process by creating internships and educating students, as well as developing joint activities in engineering sciences.  

18 graduates received scholarships, the founders of which were Prof. Rimantas Balsys, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of KU (3 scholarships), Klaipėda Rotary Club “Karalienė Luizė” (4 scholarships), Grigeo, AB (9 scholarships), Klaipėda Regional Association of Industrialists (1 scholarship), and Baltic Trans Service, UAB (1 scholarship).

A strong emphasis was placed not only on academic performance, but also on volunteering. At the celebration, a certificate of appreciation was presented to Dae Seng Kim, a Japanese graduate and one of KU’s most active volunteers. He spends a lot of time at Klaipėda’s Mary the Queen of Peace Church Caritas, where he takes care of lonely elderly people.

The festive event, which was attended not only by KU graduates and representatives of the academic community, but also by representatives of Klaipėda City Municipality, business representatives, and relatives of the graduates, took place in Klaipėda Švyturio Arena. In addition to the solemn congratulatory speeches and the diploma award ceremony, the graduates also received a musical gift – “8 kambarys” gig.
