in 1961 Klaipėda Faculty of Kaunas Polytechnic Institute was established in Klaipėda. The history of the department dates back to 1963, when the Department of Electromechanics was founded. in 2015 the Department of Engineering was created by merging the Departments of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Technological Processes.
The department successfully conducts Erasmus+ studies - there is an exchange of students and teachers between different European countries (Belgium, Denmark, Italy, Spain, Luxembourg, Portugal, France, Turkey, Germany, etc.). The department's researchers participate in research and experimental development projects of national and international programs (INTEREG, Baltic Sea Region program, HORIZONT 2020, tripartite cooperation "Lithuania-Latvija-China", etc.). Teachers and students actively participate in conferences, seminars, trainings, robot development club activities, cooperate with business companies and organizations, represent the university in various level organizations and committees.
All students enrolled in the state-funded study programs of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Chemical Engineering (Environment and Energy) receive monthly stipends of 200 euros targeted by the Ministry of Economy and Innovation.
