The Support Agreement defining the purposeful use of the funds was signed by Irmantė Kimienė, Director General of Achema Group Concern, and Vytautas Adomaitis, Head of the Future Support Fund of Klaipėda University. According to him, this investment, which will allow to modernise the training base for KU IT specialists, is significant not only for the University, but also for the whole business community of the region.
"We want to equip the laboratory with the latest equipment and strengthen it so that in the next few years it would develop into a Robotics Centre with all the capabilities to prepare highly qualified automation and robotics specialists for industry. I would like to personally thank Mrs. Lyda Lubienė, Chair of the Board of Achema Group, for her contribution to the development of Klaipėda University", said the Head of the KU Future Fund Vytautas Adomaitis after the signing of the Agreement.
"Klaipėda University and Achema Group have a long-time tradition of cooperation. This targeted investment in KU is closely linked to future business processes, and we thank KU for the opportunity to contribute to this important and necessary principal initiative. Although 2023 may be a very turbulent year for Lithuanian industry and business, it is usually difficult times that bring about change and progress in business processes. Business innovation undoubtedly requires highly qualified specialists, and therefore we sincerely believe that this innovative equipment will diversify the practical experience of KU students and help to prepare the best technology specialists of the future, who will ensure the long-term competitiveness of the Lithuanian industry," said Lyda Lubienė, Chair of the Board of the Concern.
The equipment to be acquired under this Agreement will be used for the study and applied research in the field of autonomous robots, ground vehicles, autonomous ships, autonomous ports and UAV drones. The laboratory will be used by students in the Technology area of study: in the fields of Informatics Engineering, Informatics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and partly Chemical and Civil Engineering.
